Wishing everyone a great holiday!

I’ll be back in 2010!!!!!!!!

HAVE A HEART

With the snow falling outside and the trees barren of  fruits, berries and nuts, now is the perfect time to make “have a heart”  treats for our feathered friends.

Not only will birds be happy dining on these cute heart-shaped treats, but it’s also a joy to watch the pretty blue jays and scarlet red cardinals while they’re visiting.

What you’ll need:

6 slices of white bread

Heart shaped cookie cutter

A pencil(for poking a hole in the bread)

Egg whites

Birdseed

Raffia, ribbon, or  twine

Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to make 6 hearts out of each piece of bread. Use a pencil to poke a hole in the top for threading raffia, ribbon or what ever else you decide to use for hanging the heart outdoors.

Brush egg white on both sides of the treat and press birdseed on both sides, you may want to re-poke the hole again after pressing the seed, to move the seed blocking the hole before drying. Place all the hearts on a large baking sheet and let harden over night.

Once dry, thread raffia, ribbon or twine through the holes of the treats and make a loop for hanging outside on tree branches.

Seeing What Is True

766-766984dnf2hj3cbj.640x480Do not blindly believe what others say, not even Buddha. See for yourself what brings contentment, clarity,  and peace. That is the path for you to follow.

Words have the power to destroy and heal.

When words are both true and kind, they can change our world.

Halloween Oil Painting

Picture 052Here’s a painting I did while away on break. It is not my own idea, but a reproduction of a picture I love from the ” Gypsy Witch” deck.

I’ve always loved the print on the back of the deck, so I decided to make an oil painting of it for myself.

During the next few weeks I’ll be on blog break. I plan on painting some new Halloween compositions while on break.

Wishing everyone a nice few weeks ahead. See everyone this fall!
